The spammers have moved to the PM box. To help your admins, if you find 'spam' in your inbox and the sender has not been deleted (you'll see that it's from "Deleted Member" if they've been deleted) please notify us with the name of the 'user'.

If the PM spamming continues I'll look into some ways around that.

We may not be very talkative here, but that doesn't mean we want to be over-run with spammers for those that do use this board, nor do we want to 'close up shop'.

Thanks!

I received a message in my inbox this morning at work, from ADMIN at Vamploves.com and now my work computer is over run with a virus! I know its not you all, but some hacker is messing things up! Damn the hackers!

We've deleted the new spammer.
I've also made it so all new members have to be approved by an Admin.

We also set up a new "Newbie" group for new members.. they will not be allowed to use PM system or email members until they have more than 5 posts.

We'll see how these changes go.. and move on from there.

I haven't gotten any PMs, but I'm seeing quite a few offensive and spamming posts on the board ... often gibberish, nonsense or smutty stuff from brand new posters. I'm sure the admins remove these posts (and I assume their authors) as soon as you find them. I haven't run across this on any of my other boards. With the new rules in place, hopefully these folks will stop posting and go elsewhere.

When you see a spam post.. click the "report a post" button.. then the Admins will get an email ..and it will have a link to the exact post.
That's the best way to catch them.

When you aren't sure if a PM is REALLY from an "Admin" here..
Look at their "group".. if it doesn't say "VLAdmins group".. and just says "Member" ..they are a fake. wink2.gif

The latest round of spammers all put Admin in their username to fool people.

Had another one try to register today..but with the new set up..they won't get through.
